Euro 6 is the sixth incarnation on the European Union Directive to reduce harmful pollutants from vehicle exhausts. The Euro 6 standard was introduced in September 2015, and all mass-produced cars sold from this date need to meet these emissions requirements.
The aim of Euro 6 is to reduce levels of harmful car and van exhaust emissions, both in petrol and diesel cars.
Your current Emissions Test Equipment must be compliant to be able to test to these limits as of May 2018.
For the test equipment to remain compliant, the user must follow the service and calibration intervals stipulated by the manufacturer, which in the case of Premier Diagnostics Ltd is undertaken by its own service division with highly trained, experienced accredited engineers, who provide equipment installation, training, in addition to maintenance, calibration and repairs throughout the country under the required ISO/IEC17025 standards.
With the New Legislation coming into effect for vehicle emissions testing from May 2018, and as the of the roadworthiness directive, this means that all diesel engine vehicles first used on or after 1 January 2014 will need to comply with reduced exhaust smoke levels.
The change will lower the exhaust smoke level to a maximum of 0.7 metres to the minus one (0.7ˉ¹) for these vehicles. There will also be an option to apply manufacture’s plate values, where displayed.
In recognition of these developments, the Premier DS2 smoke meter has been designed with high accuracy to 0.1k with a resolution of 0.01k and to trigger peak testing using exhaust gas temperature measurements when no smoke is detected. Measuring at such low levels, ensures that the Premier Diagnostics smoke technology can be used not only for MOT testing to current and possibly reduced limits in the future.
Premier Diagnostics offers a platform of products that meets the requirements for all classes including car, truck and bus in compliance with the latest DVSA requirements.
